William G. Champion, 73, of Pekin, Ill., died around 7 p.m. Sunday at his home. In ill health for some time, Champion was a brother to Mrs. Hoyt (Mary) Linn of Puryear and of Mrs. Martha McFarland and Mrs. William (Mildred) Howell, both of Paris.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Haensel Funeral Home, Mackinaw, Ill., with burial in Mackinaw Cemetery.

A Stewart County native, he was born Dec. 23, 1913, son of the late Chester and Harriet Outland Champion. He was married in 1942 to former Springville resident Ruthie Dell Dunn, who survives. An Army veteran of World War II, he was in construction work until becoming disabled.

In addition to his wife and sisters, he is survived by four daughters, Agnes, Sue and Diane of Pekin and Wanda of Gleason; two sons, Raymond of Milan and Edwin of Mackinaw; another sister, Mrs. Zanie Hicks of Dover; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
