     Charles Peters was born on 9 November 1808 at Bledsoe County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Vaughan, daughter of George Vaughn and Catherine Elgin Roberts, on 7 June 1832. Charles Peters died on 1 February 1884 at Winston County, Mississippi, at age 75. He was buried at Old 16 Cemetery, Winston County, Mississippi.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vera Doom; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Massey of Hampton, Mrs. Helen Holley of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Glenia Coffer of Smithland and Misses Denna and Dorothy Doom of Tiline; six sons, Thomas and Ivan Doom of Detroit, Hubert Doom of Paducah, Preston Doom, U.S. Army and Laney and Harvey Doom, both of Tiline; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lilburn Ramage of Tiline, Mrs. Treaval Ramage of Burna; four brothers, Norvin Doom of Tiline, Wayne, Neal and Sidney Doom, all of Detroit.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sugar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Orman Stegall and the Rev. H. G. Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Leeper Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Howard Rhea, Elmo Wring, Howard Hall, Virgil Jones, Chester Richardson and Frank Knight.
