     Margaret Laughlin Vance was born on 22 April 1744 at Frederick County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Vance and Sarah Colville. Margaret Laughlin Vance married William Lusk, son of William Lusk and Elizabeth Vance, on 6 May 1764 at Augusta County, Virginia. Margaret Laughlin Vance died on 4 January 1832 at Abbington, Washington County, Virginia, at age 87.
     Margaret Laughlin Vance Margaret's brother David Vance moved her and her children to Aug usta County,Virginia after her husband William was killed in th e Revolutionary War. Her married name was Lusk.

     William Lusk NSFX, Sr. Notes for WILLIAM LUSK, SR: Will of William Lusk Augusta Co., Virginia 20 Aug. 1771 written 2 May 1771 probated 20 Aug. 1771 In the name of God Amen the 2nd day of May 1771, I William Lus k of Augusta County being sick and weak in body but of perfect m ind and memory and calling to mind my mortality knowing that it' s appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this as my last will and testament, that is to say princi pally and first of all recommend my soul to God that gave it, an d my body to the dust to be decently interred at the discreatio n of my executors and for such worldly Estate whomwith it hath b lessed God to bless me I give and bequeath and dispose of this i n manner form following: First I order that all my just debts an d funeral charges be paid by my executors. Imprimus - I give an d bequeath unto my sons John and William Lusk in Carolina five s hillings each of them to be paid by my executors.      Matthew Young AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA - COURT RECORDS Augusta County, to wit. -- On the oath of Robert Renoxe it appea rs to me that Mathew Young did beat and abuse Michael Bready wit h the butt end of his musket to the degree that life is in dang er, which appears to me in view as also the opinion of Dr. Flood , who isordered to attend him. I, therefore, in His Majesty's Name, command you to apprehend an d inclose the said Mathew Young in prison until it appears tha t the said Bready is in a way of recovery and that he, the sai d Young, be discharged by the due course of the law.      Robert Lusk Enlisted in Revolutionary Army in September 1758. discharged Ma y 12, 1780.Served in Capt. William Smith's Company, John Thoma s' Regiment and General Sumpter's Brigade. He was a Lieutenan t of Horse in the Light Dragoons. Also served under Captain Jam es Steen, Captain Gideon Smith and Captain Robert Montgomery.
